5 Things I am thankful for

The abundance of friends* - if I listed you each I would surely leave some one out. Suffice it to say, every one of you is magnificent!

Max is recovering - he is walking, albeit unsteadily. He is bearing weight on all four legs. Although his right hind leg isn't fully functional he is moving it and bearing some weight on it. We are marveled by his speedy recovery, especially given how frightened we were just a week ago.

Barack Obama - Beth and I canvassed for Barack on Saturday in Phoenix. We found, of the Democrats who were home, most of them either had, or were, going to vote for Barack! Before we canvassed, we got to hear from our Governor, Janet Napolitano, who has endorsed Obama. She is a great speaker and gave us canvassing advice on how to handle objections - she's great! =) By the way, Toni Morrison, the author, has endorsed Obama, and not because he is black! Click here to read her endorsement.

Plants! - I have been on a repotting mission with my plants, changing over the soil and rearranging some of the plants into new, larger pots, for more room to grow. Anyway, we have lots of beautiful, healthy plants...something I have always said I wanted - again, thanks to our friends, Chris and Susan, who gifted us a huge collection plants when they moved to Seattle.

Rain! - We have had lots and lots of rain in the Phoenix area, and a lot of snow in the Arizona high country this year. Arizona is in the midst of a long term drought, but this record setting precipitation will be very helpful to the climate and will help reduce spring and summer wildfires. The snow-melt, which helps fill our reservoirs, will also lead to a beautiful wild flower season. Already, the desert is full and green!
