and the world turns

somewhere, right now

Sits a fat man
in a stiff suit
soup running down his chin
Sending other men's sons
to a war they can't win

Sings a sweet boy
with all his friends
smiling a young boys grin
The songs of his father
he’s happy, proud to sing

Gasps a new bride
wedded tonight
its her first lovemaking
With her new forever love
in the arms of her “king”

somewhere, right now

Creeps a thin man
bare feet bare chest
in the thin forest light
Hoping hard for dinner
for his small tribe tonight

Cries a young girl
sick, sore, diseased
no family in sight
Sobbing and struggling
and fighting for her life

Sighs a young man
on his drive home
staring sad at brake lights
Wishing for clear traffic
wishing with all his might

somewhere, right now

Runs a proud mom
through the cold night
her other kids in tow
Tonight her son; A star!
premieres in ‘his’ new show

Kneels a sad man
praying to god
one who he claims to know
Pleading for monsoon rains
to help reap what he sows

Laughs a father
an honest man
hard working, returns home
He, his kids run and laugh
Playing, "I've got your nose!"

somewhere, right now

Screams a mother
and her baby
a single piercing cry
One more on the planet
Born to laugh and love
live and die
