Strip malls and chain stores
Cookie cutter homes packed in
Homogeneity
It frustrates me and
I know I should not care but
It is so not me
Even the market
Cashiers barely smile, no words
The patrons? The same
I'm sorry to gripe
I mean no offense no harm
Just, it's so not me
Sidewalks free of feet
Parks suffer from underuse
Where is everyone?!
Thankful for so much
Yet I struggle and I judge
Sigh, it's so not me
All year round it seems
the same in any weather
Then why? The TV?
Is it Phoenix or
America? Would Europe
be so different?
Sad, I shake my head
In envy of some "other"
Now that is SO me
