(If you haven't used Flickr before you might find it helpful to know you use the box on the right hand side to navigate through the photos)
Anyway, silly us didn't get pictures of our guests, just our pumpkins, so you will have to enjoy those!
The key is to find the buoyancy point by floating the pumpkin before you carve it. Then, you carve the area that is not submerged. You put the candle in, light it and, voila, a floating pumpkin! Now, you can all try this at home! Once they are in the pool, as you can see in the pictures, they look like floating disembodied heads - and they make great pics.
After everyone left, and all the lights were off in the house and yard, I sat poolside and watched them all swirl around the pool as the filter circulated the water. The glowed brightly with all the lights off. This morning they looked like castaways who had spent a night at sea!
Thanks to Kevin, Julie, Dan, Jessica and Regan for joining us in the fun! And, thanks to Beth for the yummy chili!
My smiley pumpkin and Kevin's ferocious face!
Julie's artistic expression floated just high enough to stay aflame!
