Paradigm shift

Connection - it's all in how it is defined. I have been thinking of connection as consistent, long term, deep and emotional, as if that were all that connection is. I have devalued connection unless it lasts a long time and is centered around getting to the heart.

As I was sitting in a great little euro-cafe today, having an espresso and just chatting with the staff and a couple of other patrons I realized that my paradigm of connection is limited. We just chatted and smiled and joked and relaxed and we connected. I will never see these people again, I will not know their hearts and minds, the connection was only for a brief period in the grand scheme of the world. But it was still a connection and it has value just in that.

Part of my journey is in seeing outside of my current lenses, broadening my field of vision. Connection is everywhere and always. It comes in an abundance of variety, depth, duration and intensity. As with so much of the awakening of my life this is just another example of me opening my heart to what exists, seeing what is all around, instead of looking for what's not.

Life is so sweet an awakening.
